For most of us, 2020 has been a year in which we learned to navigate unimaginable challenges. First Tee — Central Ohio has by no means been immune to those challenges. Yet despite the many hurdles, your support has enabled us to continue offering programs that build character and introduce life skills to kids and teens throughout central Ohio. For that, we are truly grateful.
It’s important to understand that our mission extends beyond the game of golf. First Tee is a development organization dedicated to helping kids build the strength of character and empowering them through a lifetime of new challenges. By seamlessly integrating the game of golf with a life skills curriculum, we create active learning experiences that build inner strength, self-confidence, and resilience that kids can carry to everything they do.
When COVID-19 unleashed its fury in early spring, we quickly responded by transforming our programs into an interactive online format. We also offered drive-through equipment pickup and delivery to ensure that any child who wanted to participate had the necessary equipment.
We believe that kids and teens become a better version of themselves when they have the space to be who they are, and when they are surrounded by passionate people who guide them to see what they are capable of. When summer arrived, we were excited to safely return to our onsite leadership and golf program, which benefited more than 200 kids.
When the new school year began, we once again partnered with the Columbus City School District to provide our online programming to elementary, middle, and high school students in a podcast format. In doing so, we remain committed to the basic principle of offering a fun outlet for personal growth through the game of golf.
